“…What’s your name?”
The child hesitated a moment.
“Will you please call me Cordelia?” she asked eagerly.
“Call you Cordelia? Is that your name?”
“No-o-o, it’s not exactly my name, but I would love to be called Cordelia. It’s such a perfectly elegant name.”
“I don’t know what on earth you mean. If Cordelia isn’t your name, what is?”

Welcome to Call Me Cordelia! I am delighted to have you stop by for a visit!
Let me introduce myself. My name isn’t Cordelia or even Anne-with-an-e. Its plain old unromantic Shannon. Most people assume by my site’s name that I am Cordelia. I only wish that it were true. As a young girl, I often imagined my name was Cordelia. How romantic it would be to have a name like Lady Cordelia Fitzgerald and wear an amethyst brooch down to the Lake of Shinning Waters. When it came time to select a name for my blog, my mother suggested Call Me Cordelia based on my childhood obsession with Anne of Green Gables, puffed sleeves, and The Lady of Shallot.
In Anne of Green Gables, Anne asks Marilla to call her Cordelia because it is “such a perfectly elegant name”. That’s what Call Me Cordelia is about. It’s the elegance of china teacups or the forgotten loveliness of antique linens. You are never too old to discover that life is full of “scope for the imagination” and that “tomorrow is always fresh with no mistakes in it”. Step back in time and learn how to add elegance to your everyday life, just like Anne attempted to do with the name Cordelia, and create a life you will truly love.
Call Me Cordelia’s blog is a lifestyle blog about aspiring elegance. It is based largely on Anne of Green Gables because it had such an influence on my life as I grew up. Join me in the garden as I create a romantic cottage garden complete with a white picket fence, or in the home as I lovely restore an old historic house. Learn about Victorian fashion, antique linens, and other forgotten treasures. Don’t forget to stop by and visit one of our tea parties to steal a recipe for yourself!
